News 27 | Rotman VC/PE Governance Day in Toronto, Canada.

On Thursday December 5th, 2019, the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto hosted its first VC/PE Governance Day.

The program focused on governance for venture-backed startups, a topic that is often overlooked or modeled after large corporations. However, establishing the right governance structure for the stage of the organization is essential to long term success. Understanding and managing the roles and, inherent tensions, of all stakeholders in the startup governance structure is vital for all involved.

Evan Epstein, Pacifica Global’s Founder and Managing Partner, was a keynote speaker on the issue of fiduciary duties and conflicts of interest in venture-backed startups. He also participated in a panel with local experts to expand on the topic of effective boards.
